What Makes 577 Different
Scout-Led
Troop 577 runs on the "patrol method" — patrols are self-led groups of scouts who learn together and share responsibilities. Every scout gets the chance to lead, not just hear about it.
Life Skills & Character
Games, friends, and the outdoors are the hook, but scouts walk away with a lot more than that.
Advancement
Scouts move up through the ranks, learning new skills. Along the way they'll earn some of the 140+ merit badges covering everything from "American Labor" to "Fly Fishing" to "Nuclear Science" to "Swimming" and "Welding." Eagle Scout is the highest rank, and it's a great goal for scouts who want it, but it's an opportunity the program offers, not the entire point of it. What matters most is what scouts learn and who they become along the way.
Our History
Troop 577 has been meeting at Thomas Fitzwater Elementary School in Willow Grove for more than 50 years! The troop has offered scouts a steady stream of high-adventure trips alongside the fundamentals: camping, hiking, and backpacking near and far.
Adult Leadership & Safety
Our adult leaders are trained and background-checked, and the troop follows Scouting America's youth-protection policies at every meeting, outing, and trip. The scout's safety comes first.
